La Cultura de Starčevo és una cultura arqueològica del Neolític del surest d'Europa datada entre 6200 i 4500 a. C.[1][2] A sovint li l'inclou en un grup geogràficament més extens denominat Cultura de Starčevo-Körös-Criş,[3] i que sol considerar-se com a manifestacions diferents d'un mateix tipo de cultura arqueològica.

La localitat de Starčevo, el jaciment que li dona nom, està situada en la marge esquerra del Danubio, prop de Belgrat (Sèrbia). És la primera cultura agrícola de la regió, encara que la caça i la recolecció són encara part significativa de la dieta dels seus habitants.

La ceràmica és tosca per lo general, encara que apareixen formes més elaborades de tipo globular i ornament rústic de acanaladuras o de tipo barbotina,[4] també sorgixen en el temps vasijas pintades de millor calitat. l'útil característic és una espècie de espátula feta d'os, potser per a arreplegar farina; també apareixen figurillas d'argila. La cultura de Cultura de Körös, en Hongria, és una cultura molt semblada en la que també apareixen vasijas en peu, poques pintades. Abdós cultures donen els seus noms a les de tota la regió en eixe periodo.

Les cultures de Karanovo (Bulgària), Criş (Romania) i pre-Sesklo (Grècia) són cultures paraleles i estretament relacionades.

Les fases finals de la cultura de Starčevo són contemporànees de la fase inicial de la Cultura de Vinča.

Localitats

La cultura Starčevo comprén un àrea considerable que inclou la major part de les actuals Sèrbia i Montenegro, aixina com parts de Bòsnia-Hercegovina, Bulgària, Croàcia, Hongria, Macedònia i Romania.[1][5]

La localitat més a l'oest es troba en la ciutat croata de Bjelovar en el suburbi de (Ždralovi) i representa l'etapa final de la cultura.[6][7][8] Les troballes de Ždralovi pertanyen a un subtipo regional de la variant final(facies Ždralovi) del llarc procés de desenroll de la cultura de Starčevo.cita requerida
