Amphicyonidae

Els anficiónidos (Amphicyonidae) són una família extinta de mamífers carnívors, coneguts com a gossos-gose.

Taxonomia

Amphicyonidae va ser denominada per Haeckel (1886) [també atribuïda a Trouessart 1885]. Va ser assignat a l'orde Carnivora per Sach i Heizmann (2001); a Arctoidea per Hunt (2001), Hunt (2002) i Hunt (2002); confirmat com Arctoidea per Zhai et al. (2003) i Carroll (1988), Hunt (1998) i Wang et al. (2005); i a Caniformia per Morlo et al. (2007).^[1]^[2]^[3]^[4]

Evolució geogràfica

Durant el Mioceno enjorn, una gran cantitat de anficiónidos migraron des d'Eurasia fins a Norteamérica. Eixos tàxons pertanyen a la subfamília Amphicyoninae. El primer en aparéixer va ser Ysengrinia, seguit de Cynelos i de Amphicyon. Este fluix de anficiónidos, acompanyats per ungulats i menuts mamífers, indiquen un gran interval (des de 23 fins a 16,5 Ma) d'intercanvi de fauna entre Eurasia i Norteamérica en el Mioceno Inferior.^[5]
