En música, quarta harmònica consistix en una estructura de concorde diferent al de la quarta perfecta, la quarta aumentada o la quarta disminuïda. Una quinta harmònica diferix aixina mateix d'una quinta perfecta, aumentada o disminuïda.

L'us dels térmens quarta i quinta sorgix del contrast compositivo o perceptivo en les estructures harmòniques tercianas. Els oyents familiarizados en la música del periodo de pràctica comuna perceben la música tonal quan s'utilisen concordes i escales majors i menors, en tots els que la tercera major o menor constituïx l'estructura bàsica de l'harmonia.

Quinta harmònica és un terme menys utilisat, ya que constituïx una inversió o complement de la quarta, que habitualment no li'l distinguix de la quarta harmònica. De fet, un círcul de quintes pot compondre's en quartes (Sol→Do→Fa→Si♭ etc. és quinta quàn es toca cap a avall i quarta quan es toca cap a dalt); açò és la raó per la que els teòrics moderns poden parlar d'un círcul de quartes.
