Picophagophyceae
Picophagophyceae o Picophagea és una classe de protistas pertanyent al grup de les algues heterocontas recentment proposta.[1][2][3] Comprén organismes unicelulars fagotrofos de tipo ameboide en o sense cloroplastos. En els anàlisis filogenético resulta un grup pròxim a les algues dorades (Chrysophyceae). La classe inclou als següents gèneros:
- Picophagus. Biflagelados carents de cloroplastos.
- Chlamydomyxa. Organismes fotosintéticos en filopodios o reticulopodios.
- Synchroma. Ameboide marí en un complex de cloroplastos únic.
- Leukarachnion. Ameboide sense cloroplastos de posició filogenético incerta.[4]
