Louis Beethoven Prout

Louis Beethoven Prout (1864-1943) va ser un entomólogo i musicólogo anglés. Prout es va especialisar en l'orde d'insectes Lepidoptera, especialment en les arnes geómetras, en els que era una autoritat destacada.[1] Va contribuir en les seccions sobre arnes geómetras en Genera Insectorum de Philogène Wytsman i en The Macrolepidoptera of the World, la versió en anglés de Die Gross-Schmetterlinge der Erde d'Adalbert Seitz.[2] Els apunts, diaris i publicacions de Prout varen formar la base dels índexs de targetes Geometridae del Museu d'Història Natural, ellavors Museu Britànic (Història Natural). Va ser secretari de la Societat d'Història Natural del Nort de Londres i va treballar en associació en el Museu d'Història Natural de Tring.[3]

No deu confondre's en la seua germana Alice Ellen Prout, qui va ser membre de la Societat Entomològica de Londres.[4][5][6] Prout va ser un destacat musicólogo, fill del compositor Ebenezer Prout.[3][1]
