Schizachyrium scoparium
Schizachyrium scoparium és una espècie de gramínea, de la subfamília de les Panicoideae, endèmica de Canadà, EE. UU., Mèxic.
Descripció
[editar | editar còdic]És una perenne, de creiximent en mates, prominents, en associació de praderies de pastures altes, en Andropogon gerardii, Sorghastrum nutans, i Panicum virgatum. És una espècie fijadora de Carbono 4, significant que usa un cicle fotosintético de C4.
Taxonomia
[editar | editar còdic]Schizachyrium scoparium va ser descrita per (Michx.) Nash i publicat en Flora of the Southeastern United States 59. 1903.[1]
El nom del gènero deriva de les paraules gregues schizein (dividir) i achuron (palla), referint-se al lema superior.[2]
scoparium: epítet llatío que significa "com una granera"[3]
