English: Amphoras from Kos, kept at Bodrum Castle (Turkey). The main characteristic of these amphoras is their double handles. Some of the amphorae from Kos are recognizable by the seal: a crab.
Chief sources of the island's wealth were its wines, and in later days, silk manufacture. According to Pliny (xxxv. 46) these wines enjoyed considerable fame. |
