English: Comparison of Chicago being hidden by Earth's curvature. The lower part of the city is partially submerged on the horizon. The picture was taken from Porter Beach, Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. From there Chicago is approximately 50 km. At that distance over a height of 1.5 meters above sea level the curvature would hide objects less than 163 meters. Chicago tallest tower, Willis Tower (442 metters high), is on the left.
