== Característiques ==<br />
Com el seu parent viu, el armadillo, ''Glyptotherium'' va tindre una coraza que cobria tot el seu cos, similar al d'una [[Testudines|tortuga]]. De qualsevol forma, a diferència de la closca de la tortuga, la coraza de ''Glyptotherium'' estava formada en centenars de menuts hexàgons (com panal d'abella). Algunes espècies varen créixer fins a alcançar els tres metros de llarc i tindre un cos d'una tonellada de pes.<br />
